Responsibilities

The Director of Emergency Medicine will provide medical managerial oversight, strategic direction and expert clinical advice to the Emergency Department. The position will be the line manager of medical personnel employed by the Emergency Department and will have oversight responsibility of medical practice within the service.
The role will consult with clinicians to achieve and maintain best practice in Models of Care, provide clinical leadership to support system change, and work with nursing, allied health and administrative leaders to support staff and resources.

The Director will foster proactive relationships with other clinical services, primary care providers, LHD and health service leaders, NSW Ambulance and retrieval services.

There is an additional 0.5 FTE clinical hour opportunity for a FACEM. Interested candidates may also apply for the Staff Specialist PPT Emergency Medicine position under requisition number REQ606718.

Qualifications

- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways, with current FACEM fellowship.
- Extensive clinical experience in Emergency Medicine and management with a credible reputation as a senior clinician.
- Proven clinical leadership skills and the ability to motivate and influence clinicians to improve patient outcomes through evidence-based Models of Care and related frameworks.
- Experience working in complex organisations with an understanding of NSW Health priorities.
- Experience leading complex projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to develop, deliver to and report on performance against Key Performance Indicators.
- Strong change leadership capability and ability to work effectively within an executive team.
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
