Primary objective
The primary role of the Computer Operator is to operate and provide support services for the Data Centre infrastructure whilst
working within a shift team to deliver year-round, twenty-four hours, seven-days-a-week availability and support for Northern
Territory Government agencies.
Context statement
This position involves shift work in a 24x7 shift working environment.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake operational duties in the running of the Data Centre's shift.
2. Participate in project management of the section's projects.
3. Contribute to the creation and ongoing maintenance of documented standards and procedures.
1. Maintain standards and procedures for system administration and ensure change management processes are adhered to.
2. Provide the operations monitoring, control, problem determination, escalation and recovery of the Z-Series and Midrange
server-hosting environment.
6. Provide support for the scheduled system maintenance for the Z-Series Servers.
7. Provision of after-hours first level support on behalf of a number of external service providers.
8. Undertake the provision of tape management and archival services.
Selection criteria
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the responsibilities in relation to Work Health and Safety and the experience and ability to motivate and
support a team including an understanding of change management.
2. A working knowledge of z/OS software products including Control/M, Control/D, Control/O, Job Control Language (JCL),
Customer Information Control System (CICS), Time Sharing Option (TSO), Job Entry Sub System (JES2) and Multiple Virtual
Storage (MVS) or equivalent Mainframe Software.
1. Knowledge of environmental control systems used within a Data Centre.
2. Experience with Mainframe and Midrange Server hardware and software hosting in a Data Centre Environment.
3. Knowledge of after-hours support services and processes used in a Data Centre environment.
4. Knowledge of a Data Centre's backup and recovery systems and experience in developing and maintaining documented
procedures within a Data Centre.

Further information
Appointment to this position will be dependent on the successful applicant being cleared through a current Criminal History
Check, PF166 Police clearance and Working with Children (Ochre card) to work on sensitive Government systems. The successful
applicant is required to work on site in Darwin, NT, there is no remote or work from home duties associated with this role.
