Advanced Fiber Optic Navigation Engineer

The role is pivotal in advancing our cutting-edge Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) technology. This involves leading the design and development of FOG and related systems for outstanding performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the underlying physics and operational principles of FOGs and their constituent components.
\
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the testing, manufacturing scale-up, and product integration of our advanced navigation systems.
\
Key Responsibilities:
\

1. Develop and refine manufacturing processes for FOGs, with a key focus on scalability to large production volumes.
\
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and production, to ensure seamless product development and integration.
\
3. Analyse test data, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to enhance FOG performance and reliability.
\
4. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in FOG technology, photonics, and relevant manufacturing techniques.
\
5. Contribute to a customer-centric approach by ensuring our FOG technology meets and exceeds customer expectations in demanding applications.
\
6. Develop efficient processes for testing fibre optic coils.
\
7. Support and guide the Production Engineering team to develop performance metrics and SPC measures.
\
8. Guide design and development of fibre optic coil related process tooling.
\
9. Qualification, skills and experience include:
\

10. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Optics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
\
11. Proven experience in the field of Fiber Optic Gyroscopes.
\
12. Strong theoretical and practical understanding of FOG physics, including the Sagnac effect and associated phenomena.
\
13. In-depth knowledge of photonics, including light sources, optical fibers, couplers, modulators, and detectors relevant to FOGs.
\
14. Solid background in electro-optical systems design and integration.
\
15. Demonstrable experience with manufacturing processes for optical or precision electro-mechanical systems.
\
16. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
\
17. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
\
18. A proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a commitment to taking ownership and accountability.
\
19. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
\
20. Experience with CAD design tools, such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
\
21. Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python, C++, or Java.
\
22. Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools, such as Matplotlib or Tableau.
\
23. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
