Position: Gold Mine Manager
Location: Head office, Darwin NT
Reporting to: Company Director
Position summary: The Gold Mine Manager is the most senior operational leader on-site, responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable extraction of gold. The manager will lead a multidisciplinary team to meet and exceed production targets, enforce the highest safety and environmental standards, and manage all operational functions in line with company policy and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities
Safety and Compliance
* Serve as the legally accountable person for site safety, ensuring strict adherence to all statutory and legislative health and safety requirements.
* Implement and enforce a robust safety management system, conducting regular inspections and risk assessments to minimize workplace hazards.
* Develop and manage emergency response plans and ensure regular drills are conducted
Operational Management
* Plan, organize, and supervise all mining activities, including production schedules, processing, maintenance, and logistics.

* Monitor and analyze production output and costs, adjusting resources and processes to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
* Oversee the acquisition, maintenance, and allocation of all plant, equipment, and resources.
Required qualifications and experience
* Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Geology, or a related field is typically required.
* Certification: Relevant statutory Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency
* Experience: A minimum of 10–15 years of progressive experience in mining operations, with several years in a senior leadership role, is expected.
* Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of mining legislation, safety practices, technical extraction processes, and financial reporting.

* Recruit, train, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of mining professionals, from supervisors to technical specialists.
* Foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture based on accountability, continuous improvement, and safety.
* Manage and monitor staff performance to ensure delivery of expected outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Act as the primary on-site representative for the company, liaising with suppliers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and local communities.
* Negotiate with external stakeholders and ensure all operations respect and benefit the local community.
