Operating Partner
Location: Sydney ideally (Flexible on location)| Full-time / Part-time
A leading Australian mid-market private equity fund is seeking an experienced Operating Partner to work across its portfolio of founder-led, mid-market businesses. The fund partners closely with management teams, investing in high-quality Australian companies and taking a long-term, hands-on approach to value creation rather than financial engineering.
The Opportunity:
This is a portfolio-wide role supporting CEOs and founders as they scale their businesses. You will help shape and execute 3–5-year strategic plans, strengthen operating models, and drive sustainable growth across multiple investments. The focus is on practical execution - adding real capability and capacity to stretched leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute 3–5-year strategic plans across portfolio companies.
Translate strategy into action, driving operational improvement and growth initiatives.
Act as a trusted partner to founders and CEOs, supplementing internal bandwidth.
Identify and prioritise value creation opportunities, supporting execution end-to-end.
Apply a consulting mindset to real-world operational challenges.
Candidate Profile:
Former C-suite executive (CEO, COO, CFO, or equivalent) with direct accountability for running and scaling a business.
Prior experience in management consulting (MBB or equivalent) preferred but not essential, with the ability to apply structured thinking in practical, commercial settings.
Track record of operating in mid-market businesses (~min $30m revenue), ideally in founder-led environments.
Comfortable working across multiple companies, stepping into ambiguous situations and earning credibility quickly with management teams.
Strong strategic, analytical and execution capability - able to move seamlessly from board-level thinking to hands-on delivery.
High EQ, sound judgement and strong stakeholder management skills; credible with founders, boards and investors.
Pragmatic, commercially minded and action-oriented.
Why This Role Matters:
This is a rare opportunity to have genuine portfolio-wide impact in a fund that invests in people and businesses for the long term. You will work closely with founders, management teams and investors to help build stronger, more scalable businesses.
