Renmark Irrigation Trust (RIT) underpins the economic, social and environmental sustainability of the Renmark community, delivering irrigation water and drainage services across a 5,000-hectare, high-value horticultural district in South Australia's Riverland.
Following an internal transition, RIT is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operation, maintenance and renewal of its asset base and to strengthen operational capability across the organisation.
The role
Reporting directly to the CEO and leading a multidisciplinary operations team of 16 staff, the Operations Manager will have end-to-end accountability for:
* Operation, maintenance and upgrade of RIT's water delivery and drainage infrastructure
* Asset management planning, lifecycle renewal and risk management
* Capital works and upgrade projects, including grant-funded programs
* Leadership of field, technical and works teams with a strong safety culture
* Operational budgeting, contractor management and systems improvement
* Engagement with irrigators, engineers, regulators and government stakeholders
A key early focus will be reviewing the asset register, lifting asset management maturity, strengthening workforce capability, and providing the Board with a clear, practical view of operational risks, priorities and efficiencies.
About you
You are a pragmatic operational leader with experience in asset-intensive environments, such as water, utilities, local government, civil infrastructure, heavy industry or similar.
You will bring:
* Proven leadership of operational and field-based teams
* Strong experience managing civil infrastructure and assets (water, drainage, pipelines, roads, utilities or comparable)
* Practical asset management and maintenance planning capability
* Project delivery experience, including working with engineers and contractors
* A hands-on, visible leadership style with strong safety credentials
* The ability to work constructively with boards, stakeholders and customers
Experience with grant-funded capital works, regional operations, or regulated environments will be highly regarded.
