About Us
Veris is a market leading national survey, spatial and planning business. With over 550 professionals working across Australia Veris combines innovative technologies with some of Australia's best spatial experience to deliver an integrated approach to the full project life cycle, from initial planning and feasibility through to construction and beyond.
The Opportunity
Working on a major infrastructure project in Melbourne. Based in the Eastern Suburbs at the project office.
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
* Create and maintain a homogenous underground services dataset
* Revision Control of design data.
* Ensure underground services dataset is kept up to date upon any additional works such as NDD
* Maintain and update federated feature and level surveys used for engineering design
* 12d programming and customisation
* 12d modelling of solid objects from string data
* Utilise 3D Helmert adjustment to rotate, translate, and scale digital design data into position.
* Create heat maps to show depth between design and as-built data
* Create set-out data from PDF plans
* Problem solve design issues with survey team
About You
* 5+ years' experience in surveying and spatial data management, ideally with exposure to utility related data
* Tertiary qualifications in Surveying, Spatial Science, Geomatics, or a related discipline — preferred.
* High level knowledge of survey management processes and the data workflows needed to support accurate utility location, modelling, and integration with design teams.
* Strong understanding of survey field coding frameworks, especially 12d coding structures, metadata requirements, and attribution for utilities.
* Understanding of system and data migration processes that support the transition of spatial utility datasets to end-users such as utility owners, construction contractors, designers, and government authorities.
* Expert capability in 12d Model, specifically in relation to utility modelling, MTF setups, and services layers.
* Experience with 12d Synergy and other survey or information management systems used for storing, versioning, and sharing utility survey data.
* Familiarity with major survey hardware/software ecosystems (Trimble, Leica, Topcon), particularly as they apply to utility investigations, GPR integration, and services pick-up workflows.
* Experience in early design and pre‐construction phases, with the ability to apply constructability and utility coordination knowledge to estimates, quantities, and bid-phase deliverables.
* Capability to manage the spatial interface between survey data and common CAD and civil design tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, OpenRoads, Revit), including how utility models feed into engineering design workflows.
* High-level ability to assess the source, datum, quality, and accuracy of any spatial dataset - critical for validating BYDA data, utility as-constructed plans, or third‐party services models.
* Experience with digital engineering processes, including virtual-to-actual models, digital twins, and integration of utilities into federated project datasets.
* Strong knowledge of 3D underground services capture, including data manipulation, clash detection, quality-level interpretation, and integration with GPR/non‐destructive digging outputs.
* Ability to interpret and correctly apply BYDA (Before You Dig Australia) information, including typical accuracies, quality levels, and common risks.
* Understanding of 3D reality capture methods - laser scanning, photogrammetry (aerial & terrestrial) - and their role in utility corridor modelling and clash detection environments.
* Confidence with spatial and utility data exchange formats and integration workflows with GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, or enterprise GIS systems).
