Job Description
Fiber optic networks are the backbone of modern communication. As a Fiber Splicer, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining these networks.
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the quality and integrity of fiber optic cables, which involves testing and troubleshooting for continuity, operating testing equipment, and resolving common fiber optic challenges.
You will also work on prepping fiber splice enclosures, utilizing fusion splicers, OTDRs, Power meters, and other test equipment.
The ability to apply knowledge of fiber design, read documentation, and understand light levels and dB loss is essential for this role.
Responsibilities
1. Test and troubleshoot fiber optic networks for continuity
2. Operate testing equipment and resolve common fiber optic challenges
3. Prep fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, Commscope, Corning, etc.
4. Utilize fusion splicers, OTDRs, Power meters, and other test equipment
5. Apply knowledge of fiber design, read documentation, and understand light levels and dB loss
Work will be conducted at outdoor utility construction sites.
