Siding Products Group (SPG) is seeking a driven, talented, and experienced R&D Group Leader to join our team. The role involves conducting research, developing the technical base, and strategizing material processing for current and future projects. Projects will focus on process improvements, performance enhancement, and product development for SPG's extensive product line.
The R&D Group Leader will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, managing project portfolios related to materials processing, troubleshooting, and process control. The role requires collaboration with colleagues, product managers, engineers, and external customers. Key duties include creating project plans, designing experiments, analyzing data, and presenting findings. The candidate will also propose new projects, develop team members, and contribute to the R&D direction.
* Leverage broad technical expertise to improve products, processes, and performance, and reduce costs using extrusion, injection molding, and hot-pressing technologies.
* Collaborate on process improvements, raw material optimization, and new equipment commissioning with engineering and R&D teams.
* Support SPG's sustainability initiatives by aligning projects with business goals.
* Stay informed on new technologies and apply this knowledge to research and product development.
* Build a community of researchers and facilitate information flow within the R&D team.
* Provide scientific leadership and manage multiple projects effectively, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
* Promote an open, collaborative approach and seek opportunities to streamline development and decision-making.
* Communicate technical information effectively to internal teams, university partners, and customers.
* Develop and mentor team members, fostering their growth and potential.
* Make decisions regarding intellectual property in coordination with management.
* Demonstrate technical leadership and understanding of Gate Process methodology.
* Ensure adherence to project management standards and gate methodology across the R&D group.
Is this job for you?
* Bachelor's Degree with 15 years of experience; Master's Degree with 10 years or PhD with 6 years in Materials Science, Polymer Science, or related fields.
* Over 10 years of hands-on experience with manufacturing processes/equipment in industry or research.
* Strong background in polymer processing (Injection Molding, Extrusion, Compounding, Hot pressing).
* Experience in transferring R&D projects from development to manufacturing.
