We are seeking a senior lawyer to join our team in providing early, culturally appropriate legal support to Aboriginal parents and carers involved in the child protection system.
The role involves delivering high-quality legal advice and representation in care & protection/family law matters, as well as engaging in community legal education and outreach. The ideal candidate will have experience in Care & Protection/Family Law and be confident in managing complex legal matters while building strong community partnerships.
* Key responsibilities include delivering early, culturally appropriate legal advice and representation in care & protection/family law matters
* Actively engaging in community legal education and early intervention outreach
* Collaborating closely with advocates, social workers and legal teams to provide holistic client support
* Building trust and rapport with Aboriginal clients through trauma-informed, respectful communication
* Contributing to legal reform, reporting, and systemic advocacy aligned with priorities
* Maintaining professional files, court representation, and ensuring compliance with policies

Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
* A current NSW Practising Certificate and a minimum 4 years' experience in Care & Protection/Family Law
* Strong knowledge of care proceedings, legislation, and child protection systems
* Excellent communication, legal reasoning, and time management skills
* A valid NSW Driver's Licence and the ability to travel throughout regional NSW
