Fortra’s Solutions Engineers, also known as Presales Consultants/Engineers or Sales Engineers, are trusted advisors who expertly identify optimal solutions for our customers’ needs. This role is ideal for experienced professionals with strong technical skills, openness, team collaboration, and excellent presentation abilities that help drive sales and business development.

You will work with leading companies globally, providing guidance during the sales process by identifying customers' technical and business requirements and demonstrating product capabilities. You will also design solution proposals tailored to customer needs. Solutions Engineering offers a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with multiple teams, including sales, business partners, professional services, marketing, technical support, and product development. Some activities may require occasional travel to meet customers and partners or participate in tradeshows and events.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

1. Collaborate with sales representatives on activities with prospective customers.
2. Conduct “pain discovery” to understand customer needs and articulate suitable solutions.
3. Develop, present, and deliver impactful solution demonstrations.
4. Manage the customer’s evaluation process of our products and solutions.
5. Conduct proof of value or concept sessions.
6. Address technical and functional objections during the sales process, find creative solutions, and coordinate with relevant teams.
7. Build and defend proposals, articulating the benefits to all levels, including “C” level executives.
8. Estimate implementation services for onboarding.
9. Coordinate with partners through visits, demos, proposals, and events.
10. Participate in partner enablement, including technical and functional training.
11. Deliver technical presentations and respond to technical questions during sales calls.
12. Represent the company at trade shows, user groups, conferences, and webinars.
13. Serve as a market expert on products, including usage, competition, and sales strategies.
14. Occasional travel for trade shows, partner, or customer meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. A four-year degree in a technical field, preferably Computer Science or IT, or equivalent experience.
2. 3+ years of experience in IT, including presales, consultancy, development, or support roles.
3. Excellent presentation, public relations, and training skills in a technical environment.
4. Technical knowledge across technologies such as SQL, databases, operating systems, email, web, FTP, web services, JSON, XML, cloud providers, big data, or encryption; experience in scripting or development is a plus.
5. Willingness to travel occasionally, approximately 1-3 times per quarter.
6. Experience in MFT or job scheduling solutions is advantageous.
