Horticulturists play a key role in the maintenance and development of the landscapes and exhibits at Melbourne Zoo.
This role is responsible for carrying out regular maintenance and ongoing development of Melbourne Zoos Australian Bush section, and supporting roles across the horticulture team The successful applicant will have: Experienced in high standard horticulture presentation maintenance in a public space Extensive Australian Native plant species knowledge and identification Experience in native garden design and maintenance Demonstrated knowledge across a broad spectrum of the horticultural field, including orchard plantation maintenance landscaping, garden maintenance, arboriculture, revegetation, fertiliser selection and use of irrigation, and or arboriculture Ability to set and meet goals, delivery departmental goals Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team delivering operational objectives.
Sound time management skills High-level written and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of OH&S & EEO principles and practices.
