ABOUT US:

Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women's Council is an Anangu-led organisation, created and governed by women from the NPY region. We work across 26 desert communities in Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Our purpose is to support Anangu—especially women and children—to live safe, healthy lives, guided by culture and strong governance. At our core is walytja (family), and we work side by side with communities to create better opportunities and outcomes.

ABOUT THE TEAM:

The NPYWC Youth Program supports young people aged 10–25 and their families through:

* Case management
* Leadership and education programs
* Youth diversion and recreation
* Advocacy and collaboration

We work closely with communities to strengthen outcomes for young people and build local capacity across the NPY region.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Project Officer – Iwara Program plays a key role in supporting young people aged 15–25 to build pathways into education, training and employment.

The Iwara Program is a 12-week employment readiness and pathways program, designed in partnership with Anangu communities. It takes a holistic approach, focusing on:

* Social and emotional wellbeing
* Life skills and leadership development
* Cultural connection
* Practical job readiness and work experience

In this role, you will work Malparara way (in genuine partnership with Anangu staff and communities) to plan, coordinate and deliver the program, ensuring it is culturally safe, meaningful and impactful.

You will also work closely with internal teams, including the KP program and Youth Services, to support young people across the region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Coordinate and deliver the Iwara Program across multiple cohorts
* Provide one-on-one mentoring to young people
* Facilitate workshops and group training sessions
* Support participants with career planning, resumes and job readiness
* Assist with work experience placements and post-program pathways
* Build and maintain relationships with schools, training providers, employers and community stakeholders
* Support participants to obtain licences, ID, certifications and employment requirements
* Track participant progress and contribute to reporting and evaluation
* Work in partnership with Anangu staff to ensure culturally grounded delivery
ABOUT YOU:

You will bring:

* Experience working with young people
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Experience in employment, training or youth programs (highly desirable)
* Project coordination or program delivery experience (highly desirable)
* Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-cultural environment
* Strong organisational and administrative skills
* Willingness to travel regularly to remote communities

You will also hold (or be willing to obtain):

* Working With Children Check
* National Police Check
* Manual driver's licence
* First Aid certificate
