Key Responsibilities
* Perform as a Scrub Scout in a variety of surgeries, focusing on Orthopaedics, Eyes, and Urology, with occasional roles in Dental and Gynaecology procedures.
* Prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
* Provide surgical assistance by ensuring the smooth flow of instruments, communication, and surgical requirements during operations.
* Conduct and document counts of instruments and surgical materials.
* Collaborate with anaesthetic and recovery teams to deliver integrated and seamless patient care.
* Stay current with medical standards through training and professional development opportunities.
* Demonstrate and promote culturally sensitive, safe, and ethical healthcare practices.
* Ensure compliance with workplace safety and regulatory policies.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Essential:
* Proven experience as a Scrub Scout in mixed theatres, specializing in Orthopaedics, Eyes, and Urology surgeries.
* Familiarity with Dental and Gynaecology surgical procedures and instrumentation.
* Advanced knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection prevention practices.
* Outstanding communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
* Exceptional organizational and problem‐solving skills, especially under pressure.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a private hospital and a diverse healthcare team setting.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and expanding surgical expertise.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
* Maintain and prepare a sterile surgical environment.
* Assist in assembling the right instruments, equipment, and resources to meet the specific needs of each surgical procedure.
* Provide real‐time, proactive support to surgeons during operations, ensuring the efficient execution of tasks.
* Manage and monitor surgical supplies and equipment, ensuring proper inventory levels.
* Proactively contribute to pre‐ and post‐operative procedures for optimal patient outcomes.
* Actively participate in team debriefs and quality improvement processes.
