With high population growth and an uplift in investment in the city’s transport system, the City of Gold Coast is seeking a transport infrastructure professional to help deliver the City Transport Strategy 2031 and to improve the safety and reliability of the City’s transport network. This is an outstanding career opportunity for a project manager in the transport infrastructure field to help shape the future transport system of the Gold Coast.
What you'll be doing
Responsibilities
The role reports to the Manager Transport Planning and will support the Road Infrastructure Planning and Sustainable Transport Planning teams to develop projects for the City’s transport infrastructure capital programs. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
* Leading the Transport Projects Development team, including mentoring and support for a small team of professionals.
* Supporting the Road Infrastructure and Sustainable Transport Planning teams to develop transport projects from concept to preliminary design, including:
o Leading project teams to develop project designs including options analysis and the preparation of business cases, as required.
o Leading early tender involvement phases and engagement with external consultants, and subsequent contract administration.
o Ensuring provisions of all relevant legislation, regulations, agreements, standards, policies, and processes are applied and adhered to in projects.
o Coordinating with relevant internal stakeholders (such as project owners, delivery project managers, asset custodians and other relevant stakeholders).
o Undertaking value engineering to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions that align with the established desired project outcomes.
* Undertaking project management tasks such as routine scheduling, forecasting and maintenance of project data for corporate reporting and tracking of projects.
* Assisting the Planning teams with relevant inputs for project governance documentation.

We're Looking For People Who Have
* A minimum of ten years’ experience in transport engineering and project management is required, preferably in a local government environment.
* Proven experience in leading the design development of transport projects from concept to preliminary design stages.
* Ability to manage and lead a small team of professionals.
* A ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to work independently to solve and prioritise problems.
* Strong communication skills to listen to and coordinate advice, provide clear recommendations and articulate ideas to various audiences.
* Experience with conducting design reviews in accordance with Austroads, Australian Standards, and Transport and Main Roads’ Road Planning and Design Manual.
* Experience in preparing high quality reports, briefing notes and presentations.
