We are looking for a collaborative and hardworking _Emergency Management and Engagement Officer_ to join our team at Singleton Council on a full-time basis. **THE ROLE**
We are looking for an Emergency Management and Engagement Officer to accomplish actions identified by the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) as well as work with communities across the Singleton local government area to develop disaster readiness plans to improve the community's ability in future disaster responses.
You will have a demonstrated understanding of the Community and Emergency Services Sector in the Singleton LGA and more broadly Hunter Region landscape, along with State and National disaster recovery and preparedness strategic plans. With highly developed communication and engagement skills, you will demonstrate success in networking and collaborating across a diverse group with a focus on outcomes, with excellent negotiation and change management abilities also a must.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Establishing Emergency Planning Teams in identified communities
- Developing the capacity to plan, organise and mobilise for disaster preparedness and resilience building in communities
- Developing plans in collaboration with local communities for disaster preparedness whilst providing immediate benefit to communities that have been recently affected by disaster
- Delivering community education programs and community strengthening activities in preparedness for response and hazards
- Strengthening relationships between community and disaster response agencies
- Assisting community leaders to develop the skills to implement elements of existing plans and programs for disaster recovery in each community
- Developing Council and LEMC procedures and plans and coordinating testing of planning arrangements
- Working with stakeholders to implement mapping and GIS enhancements for Council and Community
**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**
- Demonstrated understanding of the Community and Emergency Services Sector in the Singleton LGA and more broadly Hunter Region landscape.
- Demonstrated understanding of current State and National disaster recovery and preparedness strategic plans
- Highly developed communication and engagement skills
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, negotiation and change management ability
- Demonstrated success in networking and collaborating across diverse groups with an outcome focus

This position is offered on a temporary full-time basis working 35 hours per week for a 3-year fixed term contract.
Remuneration for this position is based on Grade **10** of the salary system which equates to a base salary between **$72,088.12 to $81,089.84** per annum plus superannuation. This position also attracts a vehicle allowance of **$16,309.27** per annum.
