Victim-Survivor Support Specialist
Salary:
SCHADS Level 6.1 to 6.3, dependent on experience.
Job Description:
Counsellors provide specialist clinical support and advocacy services to victim-survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones. They may also participate in outreach services and educational program delivery.
The role involves working with adult, young people and/or children who have been impacted by sexual assault and violence. Counsellors must demonstrate knowledge of the impacts and dynamics of sexual assault and experience in trauma-informed counselling.
They are required to intervene effectively in crisis situations, prioritise and manage crisis scenarios while maintaining a commitment to inclusive practice.
Counsellors must quickly acquire a working knowledge of relevant legislation and policies pertaining to sexual assault, child protection and family violence.
A commitment to maintaining a child and youth safe organisation and promoting the rights of children and young people is essential.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in counselling, social work, psychology, or equivalent qualification, or occupational therapy with mental health accreditation.
* Demonstrates knowledge of the impacts and dynamics of sexual assault and experience in trauma-informed counselling.
* Experience working with and counselling adult, young people and/or children who have been impacted by sexual assault and violence.
* Demonstrates experience in crisis intervention, including the ability to effectively intervene, prioritise and manage crisis situations.
* A commitment to inclusive practice and proven capacity to meet the diverse needs of clients.
