About the role
The purpose of the Coordinator Prosecution & Infringement Services role is to provide leadership and specialist oversight of Council's prosecution and infringement activities, ensuring matters are managed effectively, lawfully and in the best interests of the organisation. The position supports sound decision making by delivering accurate, timely legal input, particularly in relation to infringement appeals and enforcement outcomes.
In this role you will oversee the operational and strategic management of the Prosecution and Infringement Services function, building strong working relationships across Council and with external stakeholders. The role represents Council in courts, tribunals and other legal forums, maintains up to date knowledge of legislative and sector developments, ensures relevant policies and procedures remain current, and contributes to the review and improvement of the Yarra Ranges Local Laws.
* This is a full-time permanent position (38 hours per week).
* This is a Band 7 role with a salary range between $110,534 and $119,249 per annum, plus superannuation.

Skills and experience we're looking for
* Demonstrated experience in prosecution, regulatory enforcement or litigation, preferably within a local government or public sector environment
* Proven ability to lead, coordinate and develop a professional team
* Experience appearing as an advocate, or instructing legal representation, in courts, tribunals or other legal forums
* Strong legal analysis and problem‐solving skills, particularly in enforcement and compliance matters
* Ability to provide clear, practical and timely legal advice to support operational decision‐making
* Well developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
* An unrestricted certificate to practice law in Victoria
