The Opportunity
Join our vibrant team as a Senior Process Safety Engineer, reporting to the Process Safety Superintendent. You will play a crucial role in enhancing technical leadership and safety across WesCEF, providing day-to-day support to an operating business.
Your Mission
To assess, prevent, and mitigate incidents affecting lives, the environment, and our communities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop guidance materials, work processes, and metrics to strengthen and improve our process safety management system
* Lead investigations into reportable and high-risk incidents to identify root causes and improvements to engineered and systematic controls
* Facilitate hazard identification and risk assessment processes (HAZOP, LOPA, TBRA, MoC assessments)
* Conduct regular reviews and audits of business activities, including Safety Barrier management, Management of Change, and risk reduction commitments
* Identify and implement improvements in process safety, engineering projects, compliance, and overall safety culture
* Communicate effectively with regulators regarding reportable incidents, information requests, and MHF Safety Reports
About You:
* You hold a tertiary qualification in engineering (chemical, mechanical, or instrumentation and control)
* Functional Safety certifications and a postgraduate qualification in Process Safety Engineering are not essential but valued
* Solid experience in operational environments, preferably in brownfields, chemical processing, or fixed plant settings
* Familiarity with Dangerous Goods and Major Hazard Facilities legislation is a plus
* You will be required to be a subject matter expert with demonstrated mastery or substantive experience in managing Functional Safety Management, and Safety in Design
* Experience in managing risk through process control solutions is well-regarded
* You have strong negotiation and influencing skills, enabling connection with various stakeholders
* As a proven technical leader, you excel in multi-discipline situations
* You are a structured thinker with a keen eye for detail
* You have the ability to create and implement clear, effective documentation and work processes
