Support nationally significant Defence research in a secure and high-impact environment.
We’re seeking experienced Laboratory Technicians to contribute to advanced research and development activities involving energetic materials and explosive ordnance. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work in a highly technical setting where safety, precision, and innovation are key.
What You’ll Do
•Assist in the processing and testing of energetic materials and explosive ordnance
•Maintain laboratories, equipment, and consumables
•Prepare and review safety documentation, risk assessments, and operating procedures
•Troubleshoot equipment and instrumentation issues
•Interpret test data and produce technical reports
•Support specialised activities such as:
•Preparation, mixing, and casting of energetic materials
•Mechanical and performance characterisation (e.g., burn rate, physical properties)
•Chemical and thermal analysis (e.g., chromatography, spectroscopy)
•Sensitiveness testing (e.g., impact, friction, electrostatic discharge)
What You Bring
•Experience in material processing, testing, or analysis
•Safe working practices in laboratories, workshops, or processing facilities
•Ability to follow testing protocols and standards
•Strong communication skills for reporting technical data and procedures
•Understanding of WHS principles related to hazardous materials
•Experience with energetic materials is desirable but not essential, training will be provided
•Tertiary qualification in science or engineering (desirable)

•Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance
•NDA required following initial application assessment
