The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) is seeking an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join our dynamic team and deliver quality care to families with children under 5 in the Northern region of Tasmania.


The Team

CHaPS provides essential health and wellbeing services to children aged 0‑5, offering growth and developmental assessments, health‑focused early intervention, referrals, and connections with early childhood providers. The service supports families as they transition into parenthood, building confidence and strengthening parent‑child relationships.


The Role

* Work collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and senior staff to deliver efficient, evidence‑based care within a multidisciplinary framework.
* Assist the NUM in staff and resource planning, provide operational leadership for day‑to‑day client‑facing activities, including appointment rescheduling and leave management.
* Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to promote client‑centred care.
* Serve as a role model and clinical resource, offering advice, supporting service development, and driving positive change.


Responsibilities

* Partner with the NUM to ensure high‑quality care delivery aligned with best practice principles.
* Coordinate day‑to‑day activities, manage staff schedules, and handle client appointment changes.
* Maintain open communication channels with stakeholders to enhance client care.
* Provide clinical guidance, support service innovation, and lead quality improvement initiatives.


Qualifications

* Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Completed Working with Children Registration.
* Demonstrated clinical experience in Child and Family Health, with ability to lead clinically and exercise professional judgment independently.
* High level of clinical knowledge to uphold standards and promote a client‑focused model of care.
* Experience contributing to service evaluation, innovation, and development.
* Desirable: postgraduate qualifications in nursing or related field.


Details of Appointment

Permanent part‑time position working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing April 2026. Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant.


Salary

Pro‑rata annual salary of $109,767 to $115,813, inclusive of a 12% superannuation contribution, aligned with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. An optional Post‑Graduate Allowance of up to 10% may be available based on qualification type.

Essential Criteria

* Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
