Details: The Education Directorate provides school education services to children and young people both directly through public schools and indirectly through regulation of non-government schools and home education. The Risk, Security and Emergency Management (RSEM) section within the Governance Branch, is seeking suitable individuals to apply for the Assistant Director, Risk and Security position. This position is an active member of the RSEM team, undertaking a range of functions in support of schools and the Directorate.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated member of the team and able to multi-task. The Assistant Director, Risk and Security play a pivotal role in shaping, strengthen, and maintaining the Directorates risk and security posture. The position is responsible for enhancing organisational preparedness, improving response to capability, and ensuring the effective design, implementation and monitoring of risk controls and treatment plans. This role requires high-level conceptual, analytical, and strategic thinking skills to navigate complex risk and security challenges that span the directorate and intersect with broader ACT Government frameworks. The Assistant Director provides advice, develops robust risk management approaches, and leads initiatives that support a secure and resilient operating environment. This position also provides support to the Agency Security Executive and Agency Security Advisor.
Working in a faced-paced environment the Assistant Director Risk and Security is an effective communicator with strong interpersonal oral and written communication skills, networking with key internal and external partners.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
* Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra
* Experience in the areas of protective security, risk and emergency management will be highly regarded.
* Experience in electronic management system such as TRIM, Wire or Objective will be an advantage.
* Driver’s licence is desirable.
Note: This is a temporary position for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility of permanency.An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination to working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start and finish times.
