About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and technically skilled Senior Technical Officer, to provide leadership and coordination of technical services for teaching and research laboratories within the College of Science and Engineering, with a primary focus on Physics. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring laboratories are safe, well‐equipped, and effectively managed to support high‐quality, hands‐on student learning experiences.
* Leading and coordinating a team to deliver high‐quality laboratory teaching support.
* Overseeing the preparation and set‐up of materials, equipment, and consumables for practical classes.
* Managing laboratory operations, including procurement, maintenance, stock control, and forward resource planning.
* Partnering with academic staff to support the delivery, scheduling, and continuous improvement of practical teaching.
About You
You are a collaborative and proactive technical professional with strong organisational skills and experience supporting teaching laboratories in a science or engineering environment. With a strong background in physics laboratories and technical instrumentation, you bring the expertise required to support high‐quality practical teaching while coordinating technical staff and resources.
* A degree in Physics (or related discipline) or equivalent experience, with strong knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and electronics.
* Experience in maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
* Proven ability to coordinate or supervise staff within a technical or laboratory setting.
* Strong organisational, communication, and WHS knowledge to effectively support safe and high‐quality teaching and research.
