About the role
Full time 76 hours per fortnight
Based at headspace Canberra in Lyneham
HPA Level 4 ($65.00 to $72.15 per hour) + Super
Not-for-profit salary packaging benefits up to $18,500 per annum
Provide senior clinical and operational leadership within a clearly defined multidisciplinary structure. You will lead the MAT Team, set clinical and operational standards, strengthen workforce capability, and ensure safe, responsive, and high-quality outreach care for young people experiencing early psychosis.
What you will do
* Lead the Mobile Assessment and Treatment Team (MATT) in delivering assertive outreach, crisis response, and home-based treatment for young people experiencing early psychosis
* Provide clinical and operational (direct line) leadership, ensuring high-quality, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care
* Oversee intake, triage, and prioritisation of referrals, ensuring timely and appropriate response to clinical need
* Support complex biopsychosocial, mental state and risk assessment decision-making
* Guide and supervise clinicians in formulation, treatment planning, and case coordination
* Lead coordination with inpatient units, emergency departments, GPs, schools, and community services to ensure seamless care pathways
* Provide supervision, mentoring, and practice leadership across the team
* Ensure high standards of documentation, data quality, and outcome measurement (EMR systems)
* Contribute to clinical governance, incident review, quality improvement, and service development
* Support integration of MATT into headspace Canberra by collaborating with the Continuing Care Team (CCT), Functional Recovery Team (FRT) and co-located headspace Canberra Primary Care team.
* Drive service improvement initiatives and workforce development activities within hEP Canberra

* Continuing Care Team (CCT)
* Functional Recovery Team (FRT)
The MAT Team provides intensive, outreach-based support for young people experiencing acute or emerging psychosis, ensuring care is delivered early, flexibly, and in the community.
About you
* Approved tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline, and provisional or full membership with AHPRA or an appropriate professional body.
* Minimum 5+ years mental health experience, including youth mental health and early psychosis (desirable)
* Strong experience in leadership, supervision, and multidisciplinary team environments
* Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-acuity community presentations
* Skilled in assertive outreach, crisis intervention, and risk management
* Strong understanding of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and culturally safe practice
* Knowledge of ACT mental health systems, legislation, and service pathways
* Current Australian driver's licence
* Ability to work flexibly in community-based outreach settings and rotating service needs
