Reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance, the Mechanical Engineer will oversee the installation, maintenance, and optimisation of equipment supporting pond evaporation, brine transfer, and salt crystallisation at our Mardie Salt Operations.

We are rapidly progressing the Mardie Salt Operation and Potash Project (Mardie Operation), a tier 1 solar evaporation project that will supply high-purity industrial salt and sulphate of potash (SOP) for more than 60 years.
Mardie will be the largest salt operation in Australia and the third largest globally. With first salt on ship on track to be achieved late next year, BCI Minerals is just at the beginning of its journey to become a key player in a multitude of globally significant sustainable opportunities.

The Role
The Mechanical Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of mechanical systems across BCI Minerals' Mardie Salt Operations. This position is responsible for overseeing the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of critical assets supporting pond evaporation, brine transfer, and salt crystallisation processes. Working across both construction and operational phases, the Mechanical Engineer will focus on maintaining equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and driving performance improvements while upholding the highest safety and environmental standards.
About You:
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Mechanical Engineer with a solid foundation in mechanical design, operation, and maintenance within mineral processing or similar industries. You will bring at least five years of experience and a demonstrated understanding of equipment such as pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and crystallisers. A strong grasp of WHS and environmental regulations, combined with a practical approach to problem-solving, will be essential to your success in this role. Proficiency in key software tools, including MS Office, and the ability to apply engineering principles to real-world challenges will be highly valued.
You'll thrive in this role if you have hands-on experience supporting construction, commissioning, and operational activities in complex process environments. We're looking for someone who can work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and project teams to identify reliability improvements and drive efficient outcomes. Previous exposure to salt or mineral processing operations and familiarity with bulk material handling systems will be advantageous, along with a commitment to continuous improvement and a strong safety mindset.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a national police clearance that is not older than 3 months and if site based must hold a WA White Card
