About the Role
Bargain Steel Centre is seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Maintenance Specialist to support the efficient operation of our roll forming production lines. This hands‑on role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and optimising our manufacturing equipment, as well as performing general facility maintenance to ensure a safe, reliable and productive work environment.
What You'll Be Doing
* Preventative Maintenance: Complete daily, weekly and monthly maintenance tasks, including lubrication of rollers, bearings and drive chains.
* Precision Alignment: Inspect and adjust roller alignment and tooling gaps to minimise defects and ensure consistent product quality.
* Systems Repair: Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cutting and punching units.
* Operational Safety: Inspect safety guards and emergency stop systems, ensuring strict compliance with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
* General Facility Maintenance: Carry out routine building and workshop repairs such as fixing door handles, addressing leaking taps, replacing fixtures and resolving minor facility issues.
* Production Support: Work closely with the production team to coordinate maintenance activities and minimise downtime.
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance work and equipment history.
* Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades or modifications to enhance performance and efficiency.
* Team Support: Provide guidance and support to junior maintenance staff when required.
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience maintaining roll forming machinery or similar metal fabrication equipment
* Minimum 5 years' experience as a Fitter, Turner or Machinist in a manufacturing environment
* Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose issues such as chain chatter, motor overheating and other mechanical faults
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment manuals
* Experience using a wide range of maintenance tools and equipment
* Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Australian working rights are required
