Moree Golf Club opened for play on 8th August of 1906. Our Golf Club is a gathering place for the local community and guests, providing excellent facilities, great food, and local conversation. Our course was designed by Arthur East. The course offers a combination of challenge and enjoyment, catering for seasoned players and the beginner.
About the role
The Head Landscape Gardner at Moree Golf Club is responsible for the overall management of the gardens and golf course, in line with the Club goals and objectives. This is a full-time position (additional weekend work is required) with a minimum of at least 5+ years previous work experience.
Maintenance and development
* Schedules gardens, landscape and golf course maintenance practices around member play and outings to maximise efficiency and minimise disruption to the members.
* Comply with all legislative requirements in carrying out gardens, landscape, and golf course maintenance.
* Produces an annual schedule of works for gardens, landscapes, and golf course maintenance.
* Monitors the conditions of the gardens, landscapes, and golf course as well as oversees the care and maintenance program to ensure a high level of gardens and golf course condition.
* Maintain tools, plant and equipment in serviceable and safe condition and maintains record of machinery maintenance.
* Contribute to strategic planning for longer term garden and golf course development.
* Manages a water usage tracking plan and provides monthly reporting on water use.
Relevant Skills
* Knowledge of management of landscapes, gardens, greens, fairways, and roughs.
* Preparing Landscape plans, drawings, and cost estimates.
* Designing and maintaining parks, gardens, and landscapes.
* Cultivating lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plants.
* Knowledge and use of operating standards of equipment and tools used in Landscape construction and golf course maintenance work.
* Skill in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating, and motivating personnel.
* Interpersonal skill to resolve conflict and work with supervisors, officials, employees, members, and the public.
* Knowledge and accreditation in the safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products.
Finance
* Develops and implements an annual budget for gardens, landscapes, and golf course operational expenses in collaboration with Club Manager.
* Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses associated with the gardens, landscapes, and golf course operations, including supplies, chemicals, fertilisers.
* Plans and budgets for additional or replacement capital equipment.
Staff Management.
* Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure safe working conditions and that staff are working within WHS guidelines.
* Oversees gardens, landscapes, and golf course staff in the proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment.
* Ensure WHS guidelines and policies are followed for all course maintenance works in accordance with the Club WHS procedures.
* Works collaboratively with staff to develop and implement a performance development plan based on their individual needs.
* Staff performance is appraised quarterly and a written report provided to the Club Manager.
The successful candidate must exercise the ability to
* Be team focused, with strong leadership, training, and staff management skills.
* Be confident in all areas of WH&S, staff rostering, and other duties relate to daily and weekly Landscape and Golf Course maintenance.
* Have a full understanding of all current machinery operations and experience in managing preventative maintenance programs.
* Have experience in irrigation and maintenance issues.
* Constructing garden structures (paths, walls fences, decking, pergolas)
* Control pests, weeds, and plant diseases.
* Advising on plant selection, garden design, and sustainability.
* Operating and maintaining machinery and equipment such as lawnmowers, chainsaws etc.
* Relevant Sports Turf Management or Horticultural Trade or equivalent qualifications.
* Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Accreditation in Chemical Applications & Safe Handling
* Must hold a current Australian Driver's License.
