NewGround Facilities Management, part of the NewGround Water Services business group, is seeking a motivated Sports Turf Management Apprentice to support the maintenance of a golf course facility.
About the Role
Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendent, this hands‑on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining high-quality grounds. You'll assist in the day‑to‑day upkeep of the course, including mowing, trimming, bunker maintenance, and general landscaping duties.
Key Responsibilities
* Mowing fairways, greens, and roughs using specialised equipment;
* Assisting with bunker raking, edging, and turf care;
* Supporting irrigation and fertilisation tasks;
* Operating and maintaining groundskeeping tools and machinery; and
* Contributing to seasonal and daily maintenance routines.
About the Apprenticeship
* Full-time, paid apprenticeship working towards AHC31324 Certificate III in Sports Turf Management through TAFE;
* Combination of on-the-job training with experienced turf and irrigation technicians and off-the-job training at TAFE;
* Exposure to a wide variety of sports turf environments, irrigation systems and machinery, with a clear pathway into a qualified role at NewGround on completion.
About You
* Genuinely interested in turf, irrigation or horticulture, with a desire to build a long‑term career in sports turf or golf course management;
* Enjoys hands‑on, physical outdoor work in all weather conditions and is willing to start early when required;
* Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions, with good communication skills and a positive, team‑focused attitude;
* Current C class driver's licence and the ability to travel to sites and to TAFE for training.
