THE ROLE
We are seeking a Senior BoP Electrical Design Engineer to join the onshore project team, reporting to the Chief Project Engineer. This role is responsible for the detailed design and engineering of Balance of Plant electrotechnical systems across a major hydropower development.
You will take technical ownership of key electrical systems, ensuring designs are compliant, fully integrated and delivered to support construction and commissioning. The role also involves close collaboration with site teams and international stakeholders, requiring strong technical depth and proactive problem‐solving capability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead detailed design of BoP electrical systems including LV, MV and HV infrastructure
* Develop engineering deliverables including SLDs, technical specifications, cable sizing and protection settings
* Ensure compliance with Australian Standards (AS/NZS) and project requirements
* Manage interfaces with sub‐suppliers and external design partners
* Support procurement and construction teams with technical input and clarifications
* Provide on‐site engineering support including resolving NCRs and technical queries
* Conduct site inspections to ensure installation aligns with design intent
* Oversee and maintain accurate As‐Built documentation
* Monitor engineering deliverables against project timelines and milestones
ABOUT YOU
* Degree in Electrical or Power Engineering
* 10+ years' experience across power generation, heavy industry or major infrastructure projects
* Strong experience in electrical design for BoP systems within large‐scale projects (hydropower highly regarded)
* National Engineering Register (NER) certification preferred
* Deep knowledge of Australian Standards (AS/NZS)
* Proficiency in CAE/CAD tools (e.g. Engineering Base, AutoCAD) and electrical modelling software (e.g. ETAP)
* Experience working in BIM/3D environments (e.g. Revizto)
* Strong communication skills with ability to engage across technical and non‐technical stakeholders
* Proven ability to work in international, multidisciplinary project environments
PROJECT INFORMATION
Snowy 2.0 is the next generation of the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme. Once complete, it will deliver 2,000 MW of dispatchable renewable power and approximately 350,000 MWh of large‐scale energy storage, playing a critical role in Australia's clean energy transition. It is one of the largest hydropower projects in the world and the largest currently under construction in Australia.
