Overview
We are partnering with a well-established and highly respected construction business delivering complex commercial fit-out, refurbishment, and new build projects across Australia. With a strong pipeline of work and a reputation for quality, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Project Director to join their established senior leadership team. This is a key leadership opportunity to take ownership of project delivery, lead high-performing teams, and play a pivotal role in strengthening the business's project pipeline and continued growth.
Role
As Project Director, you will lead the delivery function and work closely with an experienced senior team to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. You will take a leading role in driving project outcomes, mentoring teams, and contributing to the strategic growth of the business. This position offers the opportunity to influence delivery excellence while working within a collaborative, high-performing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage multiple construction projects from inception to completion
* Drive project performance across time, cost, quality, and safety
* Oversee contract management, procurement, and commercial outcomes
* Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
* Identify and manage project risks and opportunities to maximise profitability
* Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to Project Managers and delivery teams
* Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental standards
* Contribute to business growth through client engagement, repeat work, and pipeline development
About You
You are an experienced Project Director (or Senior Project Manager ready to step up) with a strong background across commercial construction, including fit-out, refurbishment, and new build projects. You bring a balance of commercial acumen, leadership capability, and technical expertise, and thrive in environments where you can influence outcomes and lead high-performing teams.
You will have:
* Proven experience delivering complex construction projects end-to-end
* Strong knowledge of contracts, procurement, and cost management
* Exceptional leadership and team development capability
* The ability to influence stakeholders and build long-term relationships
* A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills
* The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Requirements
* Tertiary qualifications in Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline
* Minimum 10+ years' experience in the construction industry
* Strong experience across commercial project delivery, including fit-out, refurbishment, and new build
* Solid understanding of project management methodologies, contracts, and compliance
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
