About the role
Maldini Restaurant is seeking an experienced and talented Head Chef to lead our dynamic kitchen team. As Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, developing innovative menus, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation. This is a full-time position based in our restaurant located in the vibrant suburb of Battery Point, Hobart.
What you'll be doing
* Manage and mentor a team of skilled chefs and kitchen staff
* Create and implement seasonal menus that showcase your culinary expertise and creativity
* Ensure the consistent preparation and delivery of exceptional quality dishes
* Oversee food ordering, inventory management, and cost control to maximise efficiency
* Maintain a safe, clean, and organised kitchen environment
* Collaborate with the front of house team to enhance the overall dining experience
* Stay up-to-date with industry trends and implement innovative cooking techniques
What we're looking for
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a senior culinary role within a reputable restaurant or catering establishment
* Experience in Australian and Mediterranean cuisine styles is essential for this Head Chef position
* Extensive knowledge of food preparation, flavour profiles, and current culinary trends
* Strong leadership and management skills to inspire and motivate your kitchen team
* Excellent time management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
* Passion for sourcing high-quality local and seasonal produce
* Proven track record of developing creative and visually appealing menu items
* Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining food safety and hygiene standards
* Must have current Australian work rights and authorisation to work in Australia
