Hays are proud to be partnering with The Friends’ School as they are seeking an experienced and detail‑focused Accounts Payable & Procurement Officer to join their Financial Services team on a permanent, full‑time basis. This role plays a key part in supporting the School’s operations through effective financial processing, strong supplier management and efficient procurement practices.
Your new role
Reporting to the Business & Systems Accountant and working closely with the wider finance team, you will be responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day accounts payable activities while managing and continually improving procurement processes across the School. In this varied and hands‑on position, your responsibilities will include:
1. Managing end‑to‑end accounts payable using ProSpend and MYOB Advanced
2. Coordinating purchasing activities, supplier setup, invoice queries and payments
3. Maintaining the vendor masterfile, asset register and purchasing card reconciliations
4. Supporting departmental budget processes and assisting budget holders with ordering and travel
5. Managing procurement systems, policies and preferred supplier relationships
6. Providing relief support to the Business & Systems Accountant during periods of leave
7. Promoting a strong child‑safe culture in line with the National Child Safe Standards
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
8. Proven experience in accounts payable and procurement within an organisational environment
9. Demonstrated experience with electronic accounts payable and procurement systems
10. Strong initiative, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
11. Well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills
12. Alignment with the values, purpose and ethos of The Friends’ School
13. A current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Card and National Police Check
