* Our client is seeking an Environmental Officer (mid level to senior) to be apart of their nickel project, on an 8/6 roster in Kalgoorlie.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform routine environmental inspections to ensure adherence to environmental regulations.
* Oversee and support land clearing, rehabilitation efforts, and restoration projects, ensuring compliance with local laws and sustainability objectives.
* Ensure adherence to environmental legislation, relevant permits, heritage protection measures, and tenement conditions.
* Assist in obtaining environmental Program of Work (PoW) approvals and permits, coordinating with regulatory authorities to maintain compliance throughout drilling operations.
* Take proactive steps to ensure PoW compliance, including preparing updates and addressing any environmental concerns or regulatory changes.
* Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Environmental Management Systems.
* Assess environmental risks and ensure all activities, such as clearing pads, sumps, and drilling, comply with the EPBC Act and other applicable regulations.
* Support baseline environmental assessments, identifying sensitive ecosystems and endangered species in day-to-day operations.
* Work closely with drillers, geologists, and exploration teams to minimize environmental impact and land disturbance.
* Assist in developing emergency response plans for potential environmental incidents.
Qualifications & Skills
* A tertiary qualification in an environmental discipline, ideally 2–3 years' experience as a minimum
* Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within the resources sector.
* Proficiency in MS Office and GIS software.
* Strong understanding of Western Australian environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal abilities.
* A valid Western Australian driver's license.
