What you will do as the Management Accountant As the Management Accountant, you will be required to apply your strong understanding of, and practical experience in, both internal budget management and supporting the external budget process and related reporting requirements. You will play a key role in the team by: - Working collaboratively to meet external budgeting and reporting obligations including the Portfolio Budget Statements (PBS). - Supporting Recent Policy Proposal (NPP) development for the AER. - Managing the internal budget process and contributing to the strategic development of a four-year internal budget. - Managing regular internal financial policy reviews. - Monitoring non-compliance activity, contributing to recommendations to improve internal controls, and supporting education on applicable finance law. - Developing and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders and collaborating with team members to deliver Finance Team operations. About you In order to succeed in the role, you will have: - Demonstrated experience in accrual accounting, internal and external budgeting and reporting processes. - A high level understanding of the external budget process and demonstrated ability contributing to elements of the process including the PBS and NPPs. - Competency in computerised accounting systems such as TechnologyOne and CBMS, and intermediate MS Excel skills. - A demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems and contribute new ideas. - An ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance as a minimum (required for CBMS access and NPP document handling). - Qualifications in accounting or similar discipline or working towards - CPA/CA professional membership or working towards. - Government experience in internal and external budgeting, and reporting processes is highly desirable.
