The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people's homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).
Are you passionate about supporting the safety, well-being, and recovery of children, young people, and families impacted by abuse, neglect, and trauma? The Child Protection Counselling Service (CPCS) is seeking an individual to provide specialist trauma healing counselling services to children, young people and their families, when physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect or exposure to domestic violence has occurred within the family. Our work usually involves a medium to long-term intervention (between 3 and 18 months) that are child-focused and family-centred. The interventions aim to address the impacts of abuse, neglect and exposure to domestic violence on children and young people's development.
The CPCS Team Leader is responsible for the operational management and clinical direction of the services, to ensure the provision and development of a range of high-quality prevention, referral management, early support and treatment services for adults, children and young people who have experienced interpersonal violence, domestic violence, abuse or neglect. The role provides support to 4.5 FTE tertiary counsellors. The successful candidate will be part of a highly supportive tertiary trauma counselling service that fosters ongoing professional development. You will also be provided with substantial internal and external clinical supervision, peer support and cultural supervision to both increase skills and support continued wellbeing in a role that handles much sensitive information.
The role also requires participation in the provision of a 24/7 crisis counselling roster.
CPCS is aligned with Prevention and Response to Violence Abuse and Neglect (PARVAN) which develops policy and supports services for children, young people and adults who are victims of violence, abuse or neglect. What you will bring to the role
* Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or Degree in Psychology with full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (with no less than 12 months service at the 9th year of service and thereafter rate), or Bachelor, Master or Doctorate Degree in Counselling with current listing on ARCAP (Australian Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and current membership of PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia)
* Demonstrated high level specialist clinical experience, knowledge and understanding of best practice models, trauma informed approaches and clinical lenses for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse. This includes the ability to lead change, provide expert advice, develop and implement integrated models of care that are person-centred.
* Significant clinical experience working in therapeutic child protection service delivery settings designing, implementing and reviewing complex group, family and individual care interventions as well as training and education packages.
* Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision and capacity to provide line management, case review and case management supervision and lead a multidisciplinary team working within a complex environment with high-risk vulnerable clients, evidenced through the use of highly developed clinical, interpersonal, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
* Demonstrated application of current policies and legislation relating to child protection, sexual assault, domestic violence and children under 10 with problematic and harmful sexualised behaviours with the ability to undertake change management and clinical redesign of services.
* Demonstrated networking and leadership skills and the capacity to develop and maintain high level relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to improve collaboration, service partnerships, improve access to mainstream health services and meet cultural and safety needs for the local population.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the capacity to lead quality improvement projects, write reports and communicate in a timely manner to support the effective coordination of integrated services with both mutual cand competing priorities.
* Current NSW State driver's licence (including P1 or above) and ability to attend Nepean Hospital within 1 hour as required in participation of 24/7 crisis roster.
