Mine Engineer – join the Mining team at the Dolphin Tungsten Mine on King Island. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the planning and performance of a resurrected underground mine in a remote location.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the Mine Engineer will support the development of short‐term mine plans, schedules and operational designs. You will assist in tracking mine performance, preparing production reports, and contributing to drill and blast planning. This role is ideal for an early‐career mining engineer who wants to be part of an adaptable, flexible, multiskilled, non‐pigeon holed planning team. The successful candidate will be given exposure to a broad range of technical tasks.
Mine Planning & Technical Support
* Assist in developing mine schedules and plans across the 0–2 year time horizon.
* Prepare production reports, schedules and designs aligned with the site Production Plan.
* Monitor and report on performance against the mine schedule and site budget.
* Contribute to drill and blast design and planning under supervision.
* Review operational outputs and identify performance trends.
* Help develop schedules and designs that optimise the use of site resources.
Operational & Compliance Support
* Ensure planning activities comply with safety, environmental, statutory and legislative requirements.
* Support improvement initiatives across planning and operational processes.
* Work collaboratively with engineers, geologists, surveyors and operational crews.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
* Tertiary Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering.
Skills & Experience
* 1–3 years' experience in mining engineering (underground preferred).
* Exposure to mine planning processes including short‐term scheduling and operational design.
* Experience with mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Deswik or similar).
* Experience in hard‐rock mining environments.
Essential Capabilities
* Understanding of underground mining principles.
* Ability to complete basic planning and drill & blast tasks under supervision.
* Strong analytical and 3D spatial reasoning skills.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
* Ability to follow safe work procedures and statutory requirements.
Desirable
* Exposure to project work or business improvement initiatives.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision as competence develops.
* Basic understanding of operational mining infrastructure.
