About the role

Mater Research are looking for a Research Officer (Postdoctoral Research Fellow) to join the team! This maximum-term (12 months with the possibility of extending), full-time role will be based at our South Brisbane campus.

The Research Officer will be responsible for conducting critical evaluation of data and literature, design and performance of experiments, writing of papers and reports, presentation of research findings at lab meetings and conferences, supervision of students and engagement with collaborators.

The research focus is the development of agents for detection and treatment of a range of solid cancers, primarily on the development of antibody based theranostics, antibody-drug conjugates and agents for fluorescent guided surgery.

About you

The successful candidate will possess the following knowledge, experience, or attributes:

* PhD in a relevant field of science (eg. cancer biology)
* Demonstrated expertise in molecular and cell biology procedures for generation of expression constructs and silencing constructs, performing in vitro cancer assays, and developing mouse xenograft models of cancer and using these to quantify the efficacy of novel agents for detection and/or treatment of cancer.
* Demonstrated expertise in antibody engineering and protein purification.
* Demonstrated expertise in immunising mice, fusion of mouse splenocytes and myeloma cells to generate hybridomas, and screening and expansion of hybridomas (desirable)
* Skills in preclinical imaging of mouse xenografts (desirable)
* Knowledge of the research environment and demonstrated research skills relevant to the specific project, including data analysis skills
* Excellent communication skills with a track record of high-quality research outputs including publications and conference presentations
* Strong academic track record and technical laboratory skills in the broad area of cancer biology
* Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff and students.
* Appropriate digital literacy skills including the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, statistical analysis software, Endnote referencing tool, and NCBI Resources including PubMed.
* Demonstrated ability to work in compliance with all organisational and legal requirements.
