About the Role
MCO is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team and contribute to comprehensive building services. The Carpenter will assist qualified tradespeople in remedial and general building works, including carpentry, structural repairs, and maintenance across a variety of commercial and residential projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical drawings to determine required materials, dimensions, and installation procedures.
* Measure, cut, shape, and assemble timber and other construction materials accurately.
* Perform installations, repairs, and ongoing maintenance for both structural and non‐structural components.
* Ensure all work complies with workplace safety standards and quality requirements.
* Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and supervisors on‐site to complete projects efficiently.
* Support senior tradespeople in remedial and structural repair projects.
* Prepare layouts, select and order appropriate timber and materials, and assemble components for construction.
* Erect frameworks, roof structures, sub‐flooring, and floorboards, ensuring alignment and structural integrity.
* Install fascia panels, roof sheathing, exterior wall cladding, and door and window frames.
* Assemble wooden structures and fittings ready for installation, including cutting precise joints.
* Construct concrete formwork when required.
* Repair or replace existing fittings and structures as needed.
* Work with additional materials such as laminates, perspex, and metals when necessary.
* Continuously develop skills through practical experience and teamwork on‐site.
What We're Looking For
* Formal carpentry qualification, such as Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent.
* Minimum two years of experience in carpentry.
* Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and plans.
* Skilled in the safe and effective use of hand and power tools.
* Excellent problem‐solving abilities and strong critical thinking skills.
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
* Effective communication and strong teamwork skills.
