Burwood Council is offering a Traineeship in Parks and Gardens as a Landscape Gardener Trainee. This temporary full-time position (maximum of 3 years) starts in January 2026 and provides hands-on experience while pursuing a Certificate III in Horticulture. The role is based in Burwood, New South Wales.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside experienced team members to maintain and improve Burwood’s parks, gardens, and sports fields
- Learn practical skills such as mowing, edging, planting, pruning, and turf care
- Gain experience with the safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment used in landscaping and horticulture
- Participate in on-the-job training while completing studies towards a Certificate III in Horticulture at TAFE
- Contribute to creating beautiful open spaces for the Burwood community
Key Requirements
- A willingness to enrol in and complete a Certificate III in Horticulture at TAFE
- A passion for working outdoors and an interest in learning landscape gardening
- A positive attitude, enthusiasm to learn, and a commitment to teamwork
- A NSW White Card (or willingness to obtain one)
- Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (minimum two doses)
- Be willing to undertake pre-employment screening, which may include a pre-employment medical and/or police check
