We're looking for an Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Coordinator to join us for one year fixed term contract at our site based in Truganina, Australia.
The purpose of this role is to provide a comprehensive OHS support service to the Business. The job holder will work closely with the Group Safety Lead, General Manager and other site department managers and supervisors to ensure the site is safe by providing a range of technical and functional support in delivering a number of health safety and well being programs.
The job holder will also be expected to provide "hands-on" safety leadership and direction to the site team.
**Main areas of responsibility**:

- Collaborate with Human Resources in inducting new employees, contractors and visitors to the site on safety protocols. Other Training and development in areas of OHS, as required.
- Manage compliance with OHS&E legislation, company policies and site safety rules.
- Develop, improve and maintain the workplace health and safety management system and accreditation. Own and report on key safety metrics (lead and lag) to Group.
- Investigating incidents, reporting and implementing corrective actions.
- Sharing and implementing safety best practices, lessons learnt etc across all sites.
- Complete project and operational risk assessments, develop safety Single Point Lessons along with Safe Operating Procedures.
- Maintaining administrative logs and correct documentation of safety protocols and metrics. Own, deliver and report on these on a monthly basis.
- Coordinating OH&S committee meetings
- Conducting regular workplace inspections to assess OHS&E compliance and raise corrective actions as necessary, whilst ensuring timely follow-up to ensure the actions are implemented.
- Driving a safety first culture whilst also identifying areas for safety improvement and recommend solutions for delivery
- Case management of injured workers including return to work and workers compensation claims. Liaising and working with legal bodies (Worksafe Victoria)#

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**
- Formal qualifications in OH&S (diploma level or above)
- Experience within FMCG manufacturing environment of more than 3 years within a safety related role.
- A strong working understanding of OH&S legislation.
- Extensive experience in Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Control measures
- Experience with Safety Management Systems essential (ISO45001/AS4801 preferred). Exposure to ISO14001 will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of workers compensation legislation and management.
- Experience presenting to groups of employees and or contractors - including toolbox talks and delivering safety training.
- Strong understanding of change management principles.
- Problem solving techniques - RCA
- The ability to work in teams as well with limited supervision.

**Job Type**: Contract

**Salary**: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per hour
