Our Appeals lawyers argue precedent-setting matters routinely in the Appeals Court and the Supreme Judicial Court.
Seeking all experience levels for our Appeals Unit.
Assistant District Attorney: Appeals Unit - Hampden District Attorney's Office The Hampden District Attorney's Office seeks applicants for the position of Assistant District Attorney in the Appeals Unit.
Responsibilities The candidate should have superior research and writing skills.
Prior clerkship or law review experience is desirable.
Research, draft, file, and argue complex and high-profile appellate cases in the SJC and Appeals Court.
Research, draft, file, and argue post conviction matters in the superior, district and juvenile courts.
Provide legal advice to other assistant district attorneys in the office.
All full time positions offer a state benefit package that includes health, life, disability, and dental/vision insurances, retirement plans, vacation, personal and sick leave, and more.
Payroll is paid bi weekly and based on a 37.5 hour work week (normally 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
All positions serve at the pleasure of the District Attorney.
Qualifications Required: law school graduate from an accredited law school (Juris Doctorate Degree); strong communication, research, writing, and computer skills.
To be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook).
To be familiar with and to follow the provisions of the Hampden District Attorney's Office Personnel Policies; assistant district attorneys must be familiar with and adhere to the Massachusetts Rules of Professional Conduct.
To participate in trainings relevant to office functions.
To interact in a respectful and professional manner with the public, judicial, law enforcement personnel, and office staff.
To complete work assignments in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
