About The Opportunity
A position is available in the Department of Chemical Pathology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown, Sydney.
This is a temporary full-time position until December 2025 and will involve shift work including overnight shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
The Chemical Pathology department includes a large high throughput automated laboratory as well as specialized labs for Endocrinology, Chromatography, Proteins, Porphyrins, and Trace Metals.

What you'll be doing
Responsible for delivering a range of operational laboratory activities including the coordination and provision of scientific and technical training, ongoing review, development, and quality management of laboratory practices to ensure compliance with operational standards, quality standards, and continual process improvement.

* Bachelor Degree or higher in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with relevant subjects from a recognized tertiary institution
* Knowledge and experience in pathology services relevant to the laboratory, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems, Quality Control Systems, and computer programs such as Microsoft Office
* Customer-focused approach with well-developed interpersonal skills, effective communication with customers, patients, clinical and laboratory staff, report writing skills, and ability to evaluate scientific data statistically
* Ability to work responsibly and efficiently, managing competing priorities to meet deadlines
* Ability to work both independently and in a team to deliver results within specified timeframes
* Initiative, problem solving, and analytical skills to investigate and resolve complex issues
* Understanding of legislation, policies, and safety requirements impacting the laboratory environment
