Main Purpose of Role
The Senior Systems Engineer plays a critical role in demonstrating superior technical competency, delivering operationally critical infrastructure, and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. The role requires a background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience
* Solid experience with cloud technologies (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
* Proven experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux environments; experience with varied OS/hardware platforms
* Demonstrated understanding of security and governance in cloud environments (e.g., ISO27001, SOC 2, NIST)
* Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies
* Experience with automation software (e.g., Ansible)
* Experience with monitoring systems
* Solid understanding of public key infrastructure (PKI), including certificate authorities, certificate generation and renewal processes, and the use of certificates to ensure secure authentication, encryption, and system integrity
* Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell)
* Solid networking knowledge (OSI layers, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLAN)
* Solid understanding of network services (DHCP, DNS, VPN, Port Authentication, Certificates)
* Understanding of CI/CD pipeline implementations

* Implement solutions for improved data consumption and production on-premise and in the cloud
* Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
* Maintain and execute the organization's cloud strategy
* Deliver optimized and secure cloud services in line with organizational standards and goals
* Mentor IS Support teams
* Provide IS support and expertise to various teams within the organization
* Provide 2nd and 3rd level support
* Liaise with vendors and IT personnel for problem resolution
* Install, configure, test, and support operating systems, application software, and system management tools
* Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
