The Role:
Reporting to the CFO, the Assistant Accountant will play a key role in supporting the finance function across month-end processes, reconciliations, reporting and day-to-day financial operations.
This role is ideal for someone looking to build on their accounting experience while contributing to the accuracy, efficiency and overall performance of the finance team.
You will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting requirements and helping ensure strong financial controls across the business.
Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Month-End Support
* Assist with month-end balance sheet reconciliations
* Support the preparation of weekly financial reporting
* Provide general ledger coding support to ensure accurate financial reporting
* Perform bank reconciliations
* Manage company credit card coding and reconciliation
* Assist with maintaining accurate expense allocations and financial records
* Process monthly rent payments
* Provide backup support for the Accounts Payable function
* Assist with invoice coding and processing
* Support the Accounts Payable and Purchase Order processes
* Set up new suppliers and maintain supplier records and agreements
Accounts Receivable
* Provide backup support for debtor management and collections
Payroll
* Provide backup support for payroll processing when required
Finance Operations & Administration
* Manage the finance inbox and respond to finance-related queries
* Provide general administrative and operational support to the finance team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
About You:
We're looking for someone organised, detail-oriented and keen to continue developing their career in accounting and finance.
Ideally, you will have:
* A degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce, or currently studying towards one
* 1–3 years' experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Officer or similar role
* Strong Excel skills and experience with financial systems
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working within a team
