The City of Palmerston, located just 20km southeast of Darwin, is a vibrant and growing community of more than 40,000 residents across 14 suburbs. Established in 1980 and declared a city in 2000, it has developed into a key regional centre in the Northern Territory, with Council working collaboratively across its directorates to deliver services and positive outcomes for the community.
This is a critical senior leadership role responsible for overseeing finance, governance, risk and compliance, while supporting informed decision-making at both operational and strategic levels. You will provide clear, evidence-based advice to guide policy and organisational direction, and foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and strong customer focus.
You are an experienced leader who thrives in fast-paced and complex environments, with a background in organisations delivering diverse services. You bring a strong focus on financial sustainability, effective governance and compliance, and lead teams in a collaborative and supportive way. With strengths in financial management, organisational performance and risk frameworks, you are able to manage competing priorities and respond to emerging challenges. You will also hold relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or a related discipline, along with strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
This full-time contract position offers a base salary of $200,000 to $220,000, along with private use of a vehicle, superannuation, a relocation allowance of $7,000 for an individual or $10,000 for a family, and access to professional development opportunities.
