The Director of Nursing provides leadership and governance to the nursing directorate across Drug Health Services. We are looking for a forward thinking, creative, innovative nursing leader who can continue to drive development of best practice and new models of care.

As the Nursing leader at Drug Health Services you will bring vision and clarity to your role, be a great communicator, self-directed, with an ability to inspire, motivate and support people to reach their full potential. You will support the SWSLHD Transforming Your Experience strategy to provide an exceptional experience for everyone who interacts with our organisation for the provision of safe, high-quality care.
The Director of Nursing and Midwifery (DNMS) is operationally responsible to the General Manager and professionally responsible to the Executive Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Performance, SWSLHD. The DNMS is a member of the senior executive team of the facility providing leadership and is responsible for the overall management and clinical practice of Nursing Services in Drug Health Services
Where You'll Be WorkingSWSLHD Drug Health Services operates across the South Western Sydney Local Health District, providing a comprehensive range of treatments and interventions for individuals, families, and carers affected by alcohol and other drug use.
The services include inpatient withdrawal at the 'Corella' unit in Fairfield, the Opioid Treatment Program, outpatient clinics, and specialised teams such as the Aboriginal Drug & Alcohol Team and the Youth Service. Recognised for their excellence, SWSLHD Drug Health Services has been a finalist in the NSW Health Excellence in Allied Health Awards, highlighting their commitment to high-quality care and innovation.

* Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).Extensive senior nursing management experience in an acute hospital setting, as deemed appropriate by SWSLHD. Post Graduate qualifications in management, leadership or equivalent, as deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
* Demonstrated senior nursing experience with experience in leading staff and managing services in a relevant setting and demonstrated ability to lead through vision and articulate the potential for the organisation.
* Demonstrated ability to represent and negotiate on behalf of nursing and midwifery, and appropriately consult with staff and other health professionals through utilising a broad range of communication skills selectively in a variety of settings and demonstrated ability to develop an environment which promotes continuous improvement in practice and patient outcomes.
* Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate and incorporate where appropriate emerging trends within the broader service and business industry which have the potential to enhance nursing, midwifery and/or health services.
* Demonstrated ability to monitor, evaluate and enhance performance across the organisation and through collaboration, including other health facilities and outside of health, to identify opportunities to realise enhanced performance.
* Demonstrated ability to analyse and contribute to the strategic plan of the organisation for continuing relevance and adjust direction. This is inclusive of the implementation of organisational change, financial management, risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
* Knowledge of drug and alcohol issues within vulnerable populations as well as working within a harm minimization framework.
* Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
