Your part in our UnitingCare team
We are seeking an extra-ordinary person to fill our newly created Life Skills and Activities Officer.
Managed by UnitingCare Homelessness Service, our dedicated team provide short term/crisis supported accommodation to families who are experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of homelessness.
This role will assist with the provision of service to our clients by providing families with the necessary tools and skills required for independent living as well as co-ordinate and supervise activities for all ages to promote healthy socialisation and community spirit.

What makes a difference for us
- Experience working with the community services sector - in particular in the field of homelessness or another field which provides transferable experience and skills.
- Experience in the production of activities that enhance confidence, self esteem and life skills.
- An ability to align activities with individual case plans to support each person's development goals
- Demonstrated ability to identify areas of current or potential risk, particularly in relation to ensuing the safety of clients, staff, volunteers and other community members.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills including negotiation, de-escalation and conflict resolution skills.
- A creative approach to design inclusive programs that provide enriching experiences and foster a positive environment for participants.
In addition, you will have:
- Current Qld Drivers License
- Working with Children Check (under the screening provisions of the Commission for Children and Young People Act 2000) - Employment is conditional upon presentation of a current Suitability Card (Blue Card) or a willingness to apply for the same.
