About the Role:
Located in Pt Augusta, South Australia, we are seeking an experienced Site Safety Officer to join our Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the QHSE Manager and Site Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring project sites are fully compliant with legislative and company QHSE requirements, while fostering a safe, respectful and collaborative work environment.
In this role, you will assess hazards, monitor risks, and implement control measures to uphold safety standards across our sites. You will ensure all personnel and subcontractors are properly inducted, licensed, and trained, with accurate Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) in place. Your duties will also include conducting audits and inspections, liaising with site stakeholders on progress and safety matters, and preparing reports for incidents, near misses and hazards.
This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the safe and successful delivery of projects while embedding best practice QHSE standards.
Duties include:
* Understand, assess and monitor QHSE project requirements
* Evaluate the HSE Hazards for the project, Assess Risks identified, determine and establish controls in accordance with the legislative requirements
* Ensure all QHSE documents and legislative requirements have been complete and are upheld throughout the project
* Ensure all site personnel including sub-contractors are inducted, hold the relevant licenses/training and that all tasks have a relevant JSA/SWMS
* Liaise with site manager/project manager/architect/clients regarding project progress and safety of the site
* Conduct audits and inspections of the sites as per QHSE requirements
* Prepare injury/incident/near miss/damage reports
