THE OPPORTUNITY
Cadence Connect is partnering exclusively with a rapidly growing national financial services organisation on what we genuinely believe is one of the strongest early-career commercial accounting opportunities in the market right now.
When we met the Financial Controller, it was clear that whoever steps into this role will gain exposure that most junior accountants never see this early in their career. You will learn the lending and financial services model inside out, understand the technical and commercial drivers of accounting, and develop a solutions-orientated mindset through real customer interactions, ensuring the business remains competitive and outcomes-focused.
The team is ambitious and made up of ex-Chartered and corporate high performers. They are well funded through international banks, interstate mutual banks and reputable private equity investors. The environment is fast-moving, commercially sharp and technically excellent.
This role has been created to support ongoing growth in a business that operates with pace and entrepreneurial focus. You will work directly with the owners, the CFO, the Financial Controller and the Treasury Manager, all of whom are technically brilliant, commercially astute and deeply invested in developing the next generation of finance talent. Ideally, this role will progress into the leadership group over time. Because of that, we are taking our time through a retained search to find someone who is technically capable but also genuinely different, solutions-orientated, customer-first, commercially curious and ready to challenge the status quo while becoming a core part of the team.
If you are a junior–mid Accountant, perhaps looking to leave audit or business services, and want more than a traditional month-end role — if you want to understand how lending works, how funding decisions are made, how treasury shapes strategy and how technology underpins a modern financial services business — this is an opportunity to experience all of that early in your career.
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
The business operates nationally within the financial services sector, supporting specialist professional industries with tailored lending solutions. Over the past decade they have grown steadily, built a $250M loan book and invested heavily in technology, data and capability to support their next phase of expansion.
You will be joining a small, high-performing finance team where you are not limited. Instead, you will be stretched, asked questions, work closely with senior leaders and contribute to strategic work well beyond your title.
It is a business-development-led organisation and the founders remain actively involved in growth. You will work directly with senior stakeholders, contribute to conversations around strategy from a finance perspective and add value from day one. This is not a role for the faint-hearted, but it is a rare opportunity to be catapulted into the world of commercial finance with plenty of support, technology and resources behind you.
WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
This is not just a repetitive accounting job.
It is broad, commercial and strategic, and places you shoulder-to-shoulder with senior decision-makers from day one. The leadership team is young, ambitious and comes from Big 4 accounting backgrounds. They understand the transition you are making and want to support it.
You will own the ledger, learn the lending model, understand customer transactions, contribute to investor reporting, drive technology improvements and gain structured exposure to treasury, an area most accountants do not access until much later in their careers.
This is the kind of role that shapes you into a future Financial Controller far earlier than a traditional commercial pathway allows.
