- Work within in a diverse and multi-talented team to deliver a major infrastructure project for the Australian Antarctic Program, designing and delivering a new research station for sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island.
- Work with internal and external operational and logistics stakeholders to plan and integrate project logistics for the new research station.
- Coordinate logistic solutions that are operationally safe and achievable in a complex and hostile environment.
- Opportunity to work on an infrastructure project from inception, that supports ongoing science and conservation on Macquarie Island.

**Who we are**

The Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) is part of the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. As primary agency for Australia's Antarctic Program (AAP), the AAD is responsible for achieving the Australian Government's Antarctic goals. These goals are to:

- Maintain the Antarctic Treaty System and enhance Australia's influence within it
- Protect the Antarctic environment
- Understand the role of Antarctica in the global climate system
- Undertake scientific work of practical, economic and national significance.

The AAD also has responsibility for administering the Australian Antarctic Territory and the Territory of Heard Island and McDonald Islands.

The Assets and Technology (A&T) Branch provides and maintains the equipment and infrastructure to support the AAP. The A&T Branch activities range from the maintenance of existing Antarctic stations and equipment through to the design, manufacture, testing, operation and procurement of advanced scientific equipment and systems. The Branch manages major infrastructure projects in support of AAP outcomes.

The Macquarie Island Station Project (MISP) Section sits within the A&T Branch and is responsible for the delivery of the new Macquarie Island Research Station to support ongoing science and conservation.

**The job**
- The Site & Logistics Co-ordinator will be responsible for the planning, development and administration of integrated logistic & civil design (site establishment) for Planning, Design & Construction phases of this major infrastructure project.
- The position will be required to work in a dynamic environment with a multi-disciplined team.
- The role is required to be responsive to changing project, operational and organisational demands.
- Working in conjunction with and reporting to the Design Lead, this position will work closely with the Australian Antarctic Division's (AAD) Operations and Logistics Branch, Environmental Management & Infrastructure Delivery sections within the AAD.
- This position requires an individual with good interpersonal skills, who is well organised and flexible with high level coordination and planning skills.
- The ability to produce high-quality briefings and plans for key stakeholders and decision makers is also desirable.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
- Demonstrated experience in logistics or operational management and movement of equipment, materials and people.
- Demonstrated experience in site establishment for complex and remote construction projects.
- Be responsible for the development of project operations, logistics and site management plans.
- Support the development and maintain logistic management plans and schedules for infrastructure projects.
- Ability to consider environmental considerations, construction sequencing, off site manufacturing, operations, program, procurement strategy and risk profiles.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of Logistic and Operation reports and documentation.
- Assist in the creation of Environmental & Site Management Plans through to practical delivery for complex and remote construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience across a wide range of projects that demonstrates the capability to successfully undertake the position.

**Skills and capabilities**
- This position will be required to work in a dynamic environment with a multi-disciplined team.
- Be responsive to changing project and organisation demands. Work effectively with a small, high performing multi-disciplinary project team working to tight timeframes while adapting to be responsive to project and organisational needs.
- Support the planning and execution of the Project field activities in conjunction with other Project team members.
- Assist with other duties as required for construction projects, including general project management support, risk management and workplace
